Help, please. Been prescribed two different anticoagulants. Severe sidevefrects ifveachnone. Can I,justbtakecaspirinninstead? Two months agonI had 2 stents inserted.
I've been using warfarin (coumadin) and xarelto (rivaroxaban) for nine monthes after a DVT and PE. I am suffering from spreading joint and muscle bilateral pain in shoulders, arms, elbows, forearms and hands. Aspirin is not an anticoagulant. Maybe you should listen to a second medical opinion. I did every possible search for thrombophilic, carcinoma and rheumatic diseases, with no medical evidence that could support a diagnosis.
Are you just going to continue putting up with the warfarin and the pain it is causig you?
Do you take any painkillers that help?
What is it with Warfarin that causes the pain for some of us but not for others? Some suggest bleeding in the joints but my GP said that would cause major swelling and be a medical emergency.
Aspirin on it's own is probably not a sufficient anticoagulant. It may take you a while to stabilise on an anticoagulant; I suggest another visit to your doctor. I am on Warfarin and suffer no side effects at all, so it isn't necessarily a bad thing.
I would have thought assanting would have done the trick, been on them 12 years
Warfarin is an anticoagulant but aspirin is a blood thinner a different animal.
How long did they say that they wanted you to take Warfarin for?
Isn't asasantin mainly used for people who have had strokes? It's a blood thinner/anti-platelet med. so maybe wouldn't answer Copperknob123's need for anticoagulant therapy.
Actually i moved from warfarin to xarelto four months ago. Everything started three years ago with increasing fatigue and sore forearms, succeeded by two thrombophlebitis and sore feet and calves accompanied by DVT in left leg last year. After that i started warafrin and the joint pain appeared. I tried to change to xarelto but with no improvement. It is a big dilemma. Doctors are unanimous in saying that I will take anticoagulants on a lifetime basis.
Xarelto and the other two new anticoagulants are contra indicated for me for some reason as I had my aortic valve replaced.
With side effects from Warfarin and the newer drugs we are left in limbo.
Yes sorry Lucy, I did not know the difference ,I was prescribed this after a TIA
