Has anyone taken ketotifen for mast cell in the gut? I have been prescribed this to hopefully replace my gastrochrome. Any side effects ? Did it help with the mast cell activation ?
I've never taken that medication, but I do take Cromolyn Sodium Ampuls 3 times daily and it has really improved my GI Distress. Along with my H1 & H2 blockers. You could look it up online & see if there are any patient reviews.
Have you started & noticed any differences or side effects yet?
Hello, this is a bit late but I've taken ketotiphen for about 6 months and found the following:
- 1mg capsule taken half hour before eating works for my mast attack symptoms if I am also taking 10mg Claritin 2xdaily and 40mg Pepcid 2xdaily; food that would normally cause immediate need for 3 hour nap I can eat with almost no symptoms thanks to adding the ketotiphen to regimen.
- I experienced a side effect of weight gain so if I am planning to eat food that would not normally trigger a mast attack I skip the ketotiphen
Thanks for he reply. My plan is to hopefully replace my gastrochrome with ketophen.. along with 2 60 mg Allegra twice daily
