Good Morning! So I popped on here this morning and was reading some responses to new posts and came across one that mentioned you are officially menopausal if you go a year without a period at age 50 or older and that it's 2 years with no period if you're younger than 50 when you start missing periods. So I was 49 (49 and 9mos) when I started missing periods. I have not had one since. It's been 12 months for me with no period. I assumed I was officially menopausal but now I'm not sure...? Do I have to go another 12 months before I can call myself menopausal or do I only need to make it to my 51st bday - so 16 months with no period or am I officially in menopause now? I'd love it if someone could shed some light on this for me. Thanks! 😊
Hi Audra, this is how I understand what defines menopause...I didn’t read the other posts yet...not really to do with age...you are in menopause...I am in the US...ages may be different, but idea still the same...
perimenopause...around menopause can last 4-10 years and start as early as 35
early menopause... periods stop before age 45
premature menopause... periods stop before 40
menopause... 12 full months no period...FSH blood test usually confirms
post menopause....after above

I’m thinking your menopausal. I’m 49 and gonna be 50 in November ,my peri menopause has gone on for about 8-9 years , and I have finally started missing periods now . They come about every 6-8 weeks now instead of every 21 days. I’m hoping I’m heading towards the end stretch now that the cycles are further apart . Hip hip , hooray! :-)
