I’m having a some what tight and burning sensation on the side of my right rib and it’s wrapping around to my back. I feel a little discomfort on my right side where my stomach is. I had an ultrasound of my upper abdomen done and everything came back normal. The ultrasound would’ve picked up gallstones right? My doc diagnosed me with gastritis so maybe this is what I’m feeling.
Everything i've read says ultrasounds are not 100% but my gp and the consultant i saw seem to think so. Did you have blood tests to check your liver function? As gallbladder problems can throw your liver function out.
Hi Matt, thanks for your reply! I have had both my liver and kidneys tested. I have terrible health anxiety so I’ve been to my doctors a lot recently because of this. She has done a CBC, they did an X-ray of my upper back and chest, I had a d dimer done (when I went to the ER), urinalysis, I asked for a pancreas test, so they tested my lipase and a hep panel was done. All have come out normal.
Hi dev. I'm in the same boat as you. Normal labs and US. But I have all the symptoms of gallbladder problems. I'm going to call doc tomorrow and ask for a Ct scan. Hopefully that will show something. I am tired of. Wing sick all the time!

I’m sorry to hear that you are sick all of the time! I go to my doc today for a follow up. I wonder about the HIDA test, not sure if that’s what the test is called? Would a CT show how the gallbladder is functioning? I’m not in agonizing pain every day but some days I have the feeling as I described above. I’ll use a heating pad to help. Hi dev. I hope your appt goes good. Let me know. The Ct won't show how well it is functioning, but may show stones or sludge that the US missed. The HIDA scan will show how well it is functioning. Same here, not agonizing pain just annoying and sometimes to the point I need to lay down. But the nausea is what is so bad for me
Good luck to you both and i bet your both glad your not in the UK as the NHS is shocking! I've had many bloods, Ultrasound and CT scan all normal and have all the classic gallbladder symptoms but they won't give me a HIDA.

i did endoscopy and confirmed with Barrett esophagus (gastritis) with no dyspepsia. i get majority of the time dull pain /friction feeling on right side and sever bloating and burping. some times bloated feeling on left side too. My hida scan says my gb is nor working , it is 0% ejection fraction. Please check on Hida scan .Also what all other symptoms do you have ?

Doc appt went fine. I lost about 10 pounds but doc didn’t seem concerned about that. I told her the discomfort is still there but it has become less noticeable. She gave me my ultrasound results which showed everything to be normal and told me to continue taking omeprazole.

Because your GB is not working I take it you will need to have surgery? As far as other symptoms, I have noticed a change in my appetite, I get full quicker than usual and a lot more indigestion. I have not had an endoscopy so my diagnoses of gastritis could be wrong. I’ve had other tests done and nothing abnormal has come back, thank God. Is a HIDA done by my doc or do I need to be referred to a gastroenterologist?
