Question

Hi all.

I was wondering if fibromyalgia is mostly a female desease, if I change sex into a man will I heal from it?

I never wanted to be a woman anyway. Its useless in my case. I didnt gain anything at all in my case by being a woman only problems since i was born. So i rather be a man

Hi as a man with fibro I can tell you both sexes get it

More women than men but trust me we get it too and it’s deatroyed my life completely :-(

10% of the population suffers from fibromyalgia and yes, by last count the larger percent is women. I, too am a man and it's miserable.

Changing your sex will not matter. If you have it, you have it. There's really nothing to change it. Like male 2069 indicates, it's destroyed my life and everyhing it brings with it. Tinnitus, IBS, etc.

God Bless.

I want to add this, and I am not a specialist in this disorder, and I believe it really is a disorder, but if you truly are conflicted about your gender, fibromyalgia might be an underlying symptom of your conflict.  Our son is transgender and when he was young, he was always in pain from migraines to IBS, you name it. He is a happy young man now, after a long transition (no fun either) he has since rid himself of any painful body symptoms.

Just something to think about.  Best of luck and hope you find healing.

While I have no idea if a sex change would change a single thing about your illness, I doubt it since men do get fibromyalgia. What I've learned from experience and in my discussions in fibro groups is that big changes seem to make it worse. I had gastric bypass surgery 6 months before my pain started. My body was losing weight rapidly and I went from being slow moving to running during those 6 months. The change was apparently too much for my body to handle cause I've been in pain and fatigued since then.

I hope you find what you need to be pain free and happy.

Gentle Hugs Hun. I know your pain and I can only send you healing vibes...

hello, sorry to say that it does effect men too(mostly woman but men get it too).

maybe if you become a man, you might have less stress, knowing you are finally the sex you wanted to be.

good luck with everything
