Quick update

Now been home from hospital, after my extended stay, for 4 days and things are progressing well.  Managed a 3 hour ride in the car yesterday to go look at a new car for the family, which I ended up purchasing, without too much discomfort.

Managing at least 4-5 hours sleep per night on my back - surprising myself really.

Today district nurse came and took the dressing off - all looking good and she removed the top running stitch - all others are disolvable.

Finally exercising is going well and just managed a half mile walk around the block - a bit of stiffness towards the end but no pain.

Have a good day all.

wow mark ... those are big accomplishments in such a short time !!! congratulations .. you are well on your way to a speedy recovery,my friend - take good care of your self and listen to your body too okay .... big hug

Well done Mark. You deserve it after your knock back of the last few days. So pleased everything is going well xx

Way to go markm!!!. So happy for all your progress. Congratulations.

Well done you! X

Thanks everyone for the kind words - it's a hard road at times but that 6 week target is  a very motivating one.

Wow Mark, that all sounds amazing, did you have the anterior or posterior approach, I understand that one way it a faster recovery.

Well done

Veronica

Well done Mark, 4 days post opp. and you are out buying a car!!!

Hi Veronica - I had the posterior approach.  I have been reading about the anterior method SuperPath which sounds amazing as there are hardly any restrictions.

I'm pleased with my recovery so far though - pain is being managed by two paracetamol as required and to be honest I could probably manage without them entirely but why suffer if it can take the edge off?

Perhaps my relatively young age is helping me here (44).

Much to my wife's disdain I must add!
