I've been living with radiation proctitis for past 4 months, 10 months after radiotherapy treatment, August 2018. Although not a welcome side effect, seems to be easier to live with, less blood & discomfort during each day and evening. My treatment was designed for agressive stage 1 prostate cancer, including hormone course of treatment prior to radiation. Now in remission. Radiation proctitis is not pkeasant, hopefully getting better.

Hi Jordy Had the same problem myself. It got much better inside about 6 weeks, but I found the worse of the discomfort was up to 4 weeks after the end of treatment.

Seems journeys for prostate cancer treatments & recoveries vary markedly, I know this quite to be expected.
My main concern a year ago was to be able to resume bedroom activity etc. That was around when I had the second anti androgen hormone needle, awaiting radio therapy during July/August, last year, 20 or so 1 minute radiation sessions.
Emotionally a disaster last year, drinking, smoking, only concerned about future performance in bed. No acute reaction to radiation treatments experienced, mainly hives.
2nd week of February this year began experiencing chronic radiation proctitis, confirmed with colonoscopy, Easter Saturday procedure. Condition is still prevalent, easing off slowly as time goes by.
I chose radiation treatment, after anti androgen hormone courses, rather than surgery to remove prostate. Seems one choice compares suitably with the other, my quality of life is reasonable considering being in remission.
Interesting journey, last year was lousy on relationships etc. Now alcohol and cigarette free past 3 1/2 months, intending to keep it that way.
