Hi, I had a knee replacement 3 months ago, I am anaemic now with a serum iron of 9umol/L and a raised C reactive protein level of 21. My knee is still swollen, stiff and inflamed. Is this nomal after this type of surgery?
I not too knowledgable in knee repacement surgery, but I have done some research in it due to my boyfrind needing one. I read patient reviews on how it took over a year or more before they we not in pain and swollen anymore. So, I would say that it is definitley heard of. As for your CRP level of 21, That would be normal from the swelling and inflammation from your knee surgey. CRP measures the inflammation in your body, so the high level would make sense. With your knee replacement, you should be doing knee therapy to help make your knee stronger and it should also help to slowly bring down your inflammation and get your blood moving.
Thanks for your reply, it makes me feel a lot better knowing that it is normal for the CRP to be raised post knee replacement.
