Hi all five years ago I started having liver function tests as I was under rheumatology, doctor describes them as one being slightly raised started to have Weekley tests it would go up to 70 then down to 45 but generally it's always about 65, slightly raised was referred to liver spevialist, I've had ultra sounds had blood tests for fatty liver and alcohol related I think not sure? Was tested for everything limes hepatitis a and b everything's come back as normal I don't have symptoms but have got osteo arthritis, anyway went back to doctor in March about my joints had lft again and doctors referred me back to gastro specialist again, I'm starting to worry! I like excersing I drink a couple of times a month and don't smoke any advice?
Yea don't worry, I'm under the gastroentologist as have uc and rheumatologist for RA so am also having tests with raised liver enzymes, no answers I'm afraid
If you are on medication prescribed by your rheumatologist ask them if the medication is responsible for the slightly raised results. Remember that everything is processed by the liver, including medication. Some long term medication will, over time, affect blood results but it's a risk/benefit situation. Will you be sicker without the medication versus the side effects of the medication.

Sounds to me as though your rheumatologist is looking after you carefully with regular monitoring presicely to pick up any changes. If it's ALT that is the raised enzyme then around 65 and stable is probably your normal. Upper normal at my lab is 40. People with acute liver damage have numbers in the 100's and 1,000s. It could be a slight change in whatever condition you see your rheumy for.
Hi, I've been having the same raised liver enzymes every time I take medication like amoxicillin or excess fructose intake. However, I juice Indian gooseberry and have 10ml of that first thing in the morning, and within 3 days my sgot/sgpt crashed from 180 to 28. You might want to try that. You even get that in tablets but I don't have that cos my liver is sensitive to so many chemicals nowadays. No one knows what's wrong with me. Gooseberry has proven to reverse cirrhosis and I'm betting my liver on this.
What's sgot and sgpt
Alt or sgot, ast or sgpt, Indian gooseberry is also known as Amla and I get it farm fresh. I haven't read research papers on any other gooseberry yet.
And I do take omeprazole 40mg for acidity, which may be destroying my liver.
My raised one's are gamma gt and slightly raised alp so would that help them you think
If gooseberry reverses cirhosis, then this would bring down ALP levels. So Yes, in theory this should help you. In three days you will know anyway. Take a blood test before and about 5 days after starting, 10-20 ml morning and evening on an empty stomach.
