my wife is 58, slim, never smoked and has recently been put on perindopril for raised blood pressure. At the same time she told the GP that she gets random chest tightening for a few seconds at a time often when she is resting. She feels like the heart is going rapidly. It is not pain and she does not get breathless. She walks everywhere. What could it be and what can she do about it?
Re chest tightening EVERYONE no matter who you are gets STRESS in some way. It could be that your wife is tensing her body in a certain way not even knowing it. I was told by my best friend why are you leaning forward, I was driving did not know I was doing it. Keep an eye on your wifes posture but do not tell her . I will have a very close look at the tablet your wife is taking and report back. thanks for posting
Hi further to my previous comment re perindopril. Is your wife on other medication ?. this tablet is also connected with water and kidneys functions.
I had an appointment with a Professor at Imperial College four years ago when trying to get on a new BP treatment programme. He recommended to my GP that I should be switched to perindopril. He wrote of it in such glowing terms that my GP said that they had switched most of their hypertension patients to it.
I had to stop it due to side effects after six weeks. I should have asked my GP how his other patients fared with it.
Not on any other tablets.
