Ive had this rash for a couple days now. Slightly itches and red spots (flat)at hair follicles. Have an offish smell to groin area. Curious what it could be. Any info would be appreciated.
It sounds like you may have a combination of things going on: you may have a fungal and potentially a bacterial infection going on.
The way you describe the spots suggests you may have something like scabies or Molluscum contagiosum this can be caused with sharing towels, and intimate contact with others who have these types of conditions (there are a number of other things this can potentially be).
So, I wonder if you are an active person, such as training for and taking part in active sports or do regular gym workouts - as sweat can have an impact on whatever it is, as a combination of things that you have going on?
What to do: if you can safely trim away as much pubic hair as possible in the problem area, but do not shave as this could inflame the problem. Minimise use of things like soap and ANY form of body wash such as shower gel - never apply these directly. Never use hot water from a shower for example.
Make sure you completely dry the entire groin / genital region so that no moisture remains as these approaches will help minimise what it is you have going on. Try, never, to scratch or respond to an itch, particularly with fingernails.
You are likely to need to get the spots correctly identifies as this can potentially be a number of health issues. Do NOT apply something like a antifungal or antibacterial cream or medication to the area as this will most likely inflame the spots.
