Hello, I've had small white spots on penis, where the skin cracks somewhat. And it can cause mild itch and get red. But then it heals up again and rinse repeat. It's been an ongoing problem for like 9 months. It can be cleared up in like 2-3 months and then suddenly appear again. Or it can re-appear within like 3 weeks after it has cleared up. It's affecting me majorly. I have a girlfriend and we only have sex with each other.
I have suspected it to be candida balanitis, but I'm not sure. I've been to my GP and a specialist. They can't tell me what it is. It's not an STD they say. I've thought about just using something like Canesten 1%, because I've googled people with that condition and it looks exactly like what I have.

Can you tell us if the rash/itch symptoms flare up after sex? If so, how soon afterwards?
Has your partner had thrush in the past or experiencing recurrent thrush?
I suspect you are on the right track in thinking it could be thrush (punctate) balanitis but this needs to be corroborated by your partner having vaginal swabs that identify candida.
Treatment involves (1) managing your partner’s thrush (i.e. the ultimate source of the problem) and (2) modifying your response to the yeast- try Canesten-HC or Daktacort ointment. Both preparations contain 1% hydrocortisone which is useful in dampening the inflammation/irritation caused by the infection.

It doesn’t seem to flare up under sex. And my partner doesn’t have anything. She never experienced any thrush or the sort.
I already tried Daktacort and also tried a really strong steroid creme. Neither worked.
But I’ve never tried Canesten and many people with similar looking problem say it helped them? Can’t hurt to try?
OK- just a bit odd that an antifungal cream on its own works, but an antifungal+steroid cream doesn’t!
I know, but the other antifungal cream had a different active ingredient? Maybe it’s worth a shot?
It’s worth a shot but I don’t think there’s any difference between clotrimazole and miconazole in terms of their relative efficacy against candida.
