Just had a phoine call from my surgeons secretary.
I am re booked for my hip operation for January 4th.
Problem is this still does not garutee I will get my hip done. They are so short of beds. I will know for sure on New years eve if I am going in or not,
I have been told I will be booked in every week to make me a priority so I will be first in when a bed becomes available.
I did say I hope I won't be waiting till April because that will mean I will have been waiting in pain for a year. I have been promised I will be made a priority now so I hope I wont be waiting much longer.
Thats good news Hailea, they are obviously taking your case seriously (finally). I would be very surprised if you hadnt had your operation by say the middle of January since you have been through so much and are in so much pain.
Hope your Christmas is filled with hope and not too much pain, you can looking forward to a painfree New Year. 😀
Hope you get your operation sooner rather than later.
4th January may be the first orthopaedic theatre session of the New Year. At least the hospital will be up and running before you go in after a quiet time over New Year.
The shortage of beds is really a shortage of staff to look after those people in those beds. It is a mis-named idea to put the public off the track a bit. It really should be called a shortage of staff.
I have to disagree with you on you saying about shortage of staff. On the ward I will be on is the same ward I was on the first time round and the same ammount of nursing staff are still all there. It is deffo a shortage of beds. Winter is always bad for hospitals.
See what you mean Hailea, so in fact there are just the same number of beds but they are filled up by people with seasonal illnesses. More flu and pneumonia cases I suppose and that takes up the beds. Let's hope you get your op before the GPs start sending more cases to hospital.
Yes same number of beds but no not seasonal illnesses trauma / car crash victims via drink drivers etc.
They only have folk on that ward who have smashed bones. My surgeon is also a trauma surgeon. So he is on call and obviously winter and christmas bring more issues for him to fix.
