're sweating

Hi all just a quick update 're me sweating I've been to the doc today regarding something else and mentioned me sweating so she asked me a few questions asked what medications I was on mentioned prednisolone she said it was nothing to do with pred told me go for a blood test and to bring a urine sample when I come for the blood test then when I get the res of the blood test to make Amor appointment to see her so I still don't know w hats going on regular the sweating but ill will keep you all informed thank you all for your help with your advice

I sometimes despair at the knowledge of some GPs about drug side effects! If it isn't pred there are/have been a few hundred people on the forums with PMR/GCA and on pred who have something else!!!

Oh well - at least she is being sensible and checking you out in case it is something else.

Thank you Eileen I only mentioned the sweating as in a passing comment not looking for another answer lol but like you say at least she checking it out but once again thank you

Thank you Eileen

From my point of view Paula, it categorically is from pred. I never sweated before I started pred except on a very hot day or in a very hot climate but since on pred i get so many hot flushes and just randomly start sweating, which is so uncomfortable and embarrassing! I notice as i reduce (9 1/2mg now) that it gets less frequent. It'll be interesting what you're doctor says about it!!

Thank you Mrs hobbles I keep you informed but like everyone says it will be the pred

I can relate to the random and embarrassing part. It's awful. Now that I am at 5mgs it is a much rarer problem and now takes me by surprise as it is so seldom.

It must be the pred because before I started the pred I never had the theses horrible sweats. Thank you

Dear Paula, sweating is definitely a side effect of pred. It is really horrible. My rheumatologist said it was very common. I am amazed your doctor is saying it is not a side effect.

I had/have shocking sweats from pred - I couldn't tell if it were pred or menopause they were so similar!

That's good to hear, and great for you that you are down to 5mg!! I had to increase to 40mg recently and boy, oh boy, it came bsck with avengence!! Like everything, when we get less of something, we tend to forget how bad it was πŸ˜‰

A double wammy of sweating, what a thought!! I apparently, am barely in peri menopause, so definitely knew it was the pred causing the sweating and hot flushes! I dread to think what I have to look forward to when I eventually get to the menopause πŸ˜“

The sweats of perimenopause can start up to 10 years before menopause.

It's being so cheerful what keeps me going...

Thank you. I am cautiously optimistic but not raising my hopes that I will be able to get off completely. I am glad to be down to 5 mgs and functioning well. I am sorry to hear you had to increase. It's a condition with no map as it twists and turns with no certain direction. I hope you feel better soon.

I found the menopause much easier than PMR if that's any consolation.

Haha, thanks for that Eileen (she says weakly)😞 I keep the words peri and menopause locked at the very back of my mind, nope, not going there!! When I do, I think me? I'm going to sail through it, it'll be fine for me, I won't even notice, it'll be graaaaandπŸ˜ŸπŸ˜©πŸ˜‰

Thank you, it is a consolation!! We need a break somewhere but as i said to Eileen I'll be sailing through it, won't even knowπŸ˜‚πŸ˜‡

Sometime over the past couple of years, while dealing with PMR I've slipped to the other side - now very post menopausal. What a relief!! now I know that when I have the sweats it's definitely the pred.

That was me to begin with post menopausal than I started sweating bad and I thought oh no not the horrible hot flushes again but for me personally these horrid sweats are ten times w

Worse than the menopause hoping they could settle down . Thank you for your reply

I would agree. They are worse than the menopause.
