Re-torn meniscus?

In August of 2015, I suffered a root tear of the meniscus in my left knee. Went through rehab, and it got better with minimal issues.

About a month ago, I was skating off the ice after our hockey game and I felt a twinge in my left knee again. Changing in the locker room, and went to step over my hockey bag, and the knee buckled. It hasn't gotten better, , and its swollen pretty bad.

I'm guessing I know what I did (re-tore the meniscus), but what are the chances that it's just scar tissue?

If they go in with a scope they can tell you what it is.  Otherwise I wouldn't know any other way

Less than 50-50. I would suggest another MRI for accurate diagnosis and not making a mistake. By overdoing it and doing more damage.

It's torn. Only way to fix it is arthroscopic surgery. Go see an Orthopedic specialist and demand an MRI. If it's torn they gotta trim it. You'll be laid up for a few weeks. But you're a tough hockey player! You can do it. I had it done. It hurt and I had to use crutches bit was walking on it pretty quickly. Kept overdoing it though. And then I had to rest ice and elevate. It kept happening. But there was no way it was gonna fix itself without surgery. There was a little flap sticking out that needed to be trimmed.
