I'm 55 in menopause, for a year or so suffering from atrophic vaginitis, my GP prescribed estrogen cream. I got a heavy discharge that caused dermatitis on my vulva and surroundings it was so bad. I remembered that about 10 years ago I would get the same sympthoms in between some of my periods but never knew what was the cause. Then we changed to pills, and the same result. Now we now I react to estrogens. I haven't found a substitute to solve my problem. My sexual life is a mess.

I have had similar reaction, together with feelings of moodyness and depression, also very painful breasts.
I found the product Replens which can be bought in a chemist very good. The one with multi use applicator is best. Gives lubrication which lasts 3 days without the miserable symptoms.

i have just been diagnosed with atrophic vaginitis..my doctor refuses to give me ovestin cream :x (estrogen) as i have a thickening lining to my womb and she said the estrogen could possibly feed the lining and progress to endermetrial cancer...i have started using replens but its to early to say if it works or not...there is not a replacement for estrogen ..you or should i say arent alone apparently one in every two menopausel woman suffer with this...sex life..i dont have one..or should i say cant have one and its caused a lot of marital difficulties... 
I have empathy for you I know what it feels like, I'd been diagnosed with atrophic vaginitis for almos a year now and I don't see the light at the end of the tunnel, there's no tunnel, no light, no hope, nothing, I'm battling cancer and can't have any hormones. I feel for you, you are not alone.
