Hello all,
I have been sitting on the sidelines reading all of your tales and issues as you deal with your 1st or 2nd, even sometimes 3rd total hip replacement. I am going in for my 2nd hip replacement Thursday morning - 2 years to the day after my 1st. This time it is my right hip.
I can tell you that I’d most definitely waited too long for this surgery. I have only been able to walk with a cane for the last month and my gate is horrible.
I’ve spent the last 2 days cleaning and preparing my home for post surgery. I have my basket ready with snacks, water, note cards & postage, a few books, and my meds! Comfy & convenient clothes are hanging nearby for quick access. New jammies, slippers, and robe await me.
I am ready for a new hip, and ready to turn 60 the following day! My sixties have to be better than my fifties! Best of luck to you all.

Thanks Kelly, so excited to put this chronic pain behind me. I truly didn’t understand how bad it was until December when they had to take me off of the 800mg x3 ibuprofen due to stomach acid issyes. I still had pain while on the meds but had no idea how much it was making
Best of luck to you as well! You will be amazed at the relief!
good luck and a very happy birthday!!拾
I had my second hip fixed last week and it is fine. Much less daunting the second time around. Do you have some help?
As difficult as it can be during recovery, I’m sure you know that “instant relief” feeling so well. Just remember it will all be worth it in the end! I had to stop taking my meds a week before surgery and yes, it was a rough week. Sometimes we just don’t realize the pain we’ve been in for so long. You’ll do great! Keep us posted!
All the best with your op, and hope you can celebrate your 60th a bit!
