Really anxious week

Hi,

I am feeling quite anxious and just need to write it all down!

This past week I’ve been having chest pain on my left side as well as rib and shoulder blade pain when I breathe I really deeply. I’ve had a really odd brain fog type feeling and a lot of depersonalisation.

It’s really worried me as originally my health anxiety was all based on my heart and worrying I’m going to have a heart attack. I have had an ECG and it was fine and have had bloods done and they were fine too. I feel like I’m taking a step forward then about 5 back.

I don’t really know what I feel anxious about, I love this time of year and love spending time with my family. Just worrying about my heart again and having silly thoughts like what if I don’t make it into the new year and things like that.

Anyone else had similar feelings or thoughts? Just after some moral support ☺️

It’s just anxiety

Hi jade I became so obsessed with my heart 12 years ago this is why I have GAD, it started skipping beats and I was sure I was going to have a heart attack, it was very frightening for me, I kept having panic attacks too. I was so obsessed with my heart and all my thoughts were just on my heart. I became so worried that it is then got depersonalisation (still have it) I'm not worried about my heart no more, I've had tests done and everything is ok. Try focusing outwards instead of inwards on yourself. I know it's easier said then done! Merry Christmas ☺🌲

Hi

Yes I feel like this a lot too..especially at this time of the year. It sounds like its anxiety. Pain in chest muscles can be caused by tense back and neck muscles. Im pretty much tense all the time lol. I also feel as though I am going to die all the time and my anxiety is focused on my heart. Anxiety makes us catastrophise everything. We think about the worse case scenario. My counsellor has given me some great self help tips and the most interesting one is to do some maths or number puzzles like sudoku. The reason being that the part of your brain that makes you anxious and the part of the brain you use when doing maths type of puzzles, like counting backwards from 300 in 7's for example, the two parts of the brain cant work at the same time. So in theory if your doing maths you cant be anxious. Try it and see how that works for you. I find it works for me in busy supermarkets. I add up my shopping as I put things in my trolley and it really helps.

You have had some expensive tests, you need not accept your results and move on

Pains in chest and shoulder could be caused by the way you sit or stand or you could have twisted yourself and clavicle/shoulder. It sound it may be Anxiety. However you could try a NSID cream, you can get these at a chemist rub the cream on first showering and concentrating the water on your sore area. The warmth of the water will open the pores of the skin and will allow the cream to enter the skin to the sore area. You can also put the tube in some warm water to heat the cream. If it does not work make an appointment to see your GP after New Year, He will check you out.

Merry Christmas

I've been feeling the same way. I finally have a primary doctor and have an appointment the ninth of next month, but I keep thinking I won't make it until then! Just gotta hold on and find ways to cope.

Thank you for your reply ☺️ Have a lovely Christmas x

This is a great idea! I have a sudoku app on my phone as it really helps me focus on something else. Thank you for your reply ☺️
