I'm in day 7 of citalopram and first day felt a bit shaky and then not any worse than usual anxiety symptoms that I've constantly for over 2 weeks but last night cldnt sleep in a total panic over a brain tumour and then awake at 5.30 dame thing. Feel sick fizzy head feels sore, full of pressure and I can't stand still without swaying. Feel so dizzy constant but when try stand it's worse!
Is this citalopram please?
this could be the drugs reaction with your brain rather than a tumour. dizziness may be a side effect so I would check with your Dr.
Honestly I think it is just the citalopram bedding into your system. It does make your anxiety symptoms worse before it gets better but please stick with it, it won't go on forever. I'm no doctor but I'm sure your doc would help if there was a chance you had a brain tumour, it's likely just your anxiety making you panic more about things. Just take things easy and don't put too much pressure on yourself to be better 'immediately'. I am on day 11 on 10mg and things are starting to get much easier - believe me you will be ok x
Thank u very much. I hope ur right I just been panicking constant since last night. I just worry I'm gni leave my daughter. I feel much worse today tho than did at the start of taking them? Would side effects not start immediately? Thanks for ur reply, means alot and I'm glad ur feeling better 😊X
Hi Jojo,
Side effects don't usually start right away. The body has to geet used to the medication before it does anything helpful or unhelpful to you.
Where did you get the idea you had a brain tumour?
I think you need to talk to your doctor for some reassurance. I'm pretty sure this is a normal reaction to citalopram but if you're so worried and upset you really need to go back and see him/her. That will at least stop you panicking.
I've been on quite a few anti-depressants in my time and they all had different effects. Please try to stick with the citalopram for a few weeks, at least, and do go back to your Gp for reassurance and guidance.
Hope you start to feel better soon, love Tess
Hi tess
Thanks very much for your helpful reply 😊 I just have it in my head cos I have pressure in my head, ears feel blocked, feel dizzy and feel like I'm swaying when standing still. I feel like my life had stopped and no idea how to get it back. Just feel like I'm dying. I will stick with them now anyway and waiting on doc calling me as was no appointments left today.
Again thanks, means alot 😊Xx
Good! I'm really glad you called the doctor - it was absolutely the right thing to do. Stay in touch.
Love Tess
Thanks very much. Appreciate it xx
If you think about it, the tablets are correcting a lack of seratonin in the brain so there will be an adjustment time and this is probably what you are feeling. Some people get more headachy and tightness in the head and it's all just that little pill doing its magic! Side effects can start immediately or build up over the course of the days/weeks you start taking them, everyone is different. Just try to stay calm and it's good you spoke to the doc so you can get some more reassurance. Take care x
Thanks again, appreciate u taking the time to help me! Xx
