I have had cold sores for as long as I can remember. I currently just got a cold sore from stress and am in the last stages of healing.
Well, I went to the bathroom and when I went to wipe I felt a bit of pain and when I went to inspect I saw this. I sometimes get ingrown hairs so I thought maybe it was one that was infected but it feels like how my cold sores feel when they start forming on my lips.
Could I have actually transferred the herpes to my genital area?
It is very possible, BUT this gives me more of an ingrown hair vibe. To be on the safe side, I would go get the lesion swabbed at your local clinic. They’ll do blood work as well, but that will be positive for HS1 regardless because you get cold sores, so don’t freak out. Just make sure they take a culture swab. This way you can keep yourself and others safe from the virus. HS1 genital herpes presents itself just like an oral cold sore (usually in the form of one lesion), so since you said it feels like a cold sore, I’d be safe and check.
