Recent intestinal problems

Recently I have been having difficulties in pooping, unsure if it is simply constipation or something worse. I have recently been under stress due to examinations. I have also been sleeping much later than normal.Enemas do not work as i have used them alot in the past, Laxatives do not cross my mind as i fear the dependancy of it. It has been really bothering me lately and has caused me to worry alot about it. During my most recent passing, i had to use a lot of energy and was exhausted afterwards. Only about a palmfull of dark-brown lumps had came out. I often times have the urge to defacate in the mornings but i hold it in throughout the day and it often does not come back till the next morning, im always rushing in the morning and thus do not have the time to defecate. I've read that some people have bowel movements once every week or so and Im curious whether i could be this way and am worrying unnecessarily.

Hi there. Stress is known to cause problems like this, as well as loads of other things, and the sooner we all get a good handle on stress the better it is for our lives. Easier said than done, but very possible with time, effort, life experiences (includes learning from them!) and research. Little things add up to make a big difference - start today with something small like slow deep breathing to relax and continue looking for and implementing other ways - will end up with a huge source of future help. I didn't have the internet at your age to do this, but you are extremely lucky.

Getting back to the real issue. Intestinal health is extremely important for health, so regular bowel movements are desired. Water, fibre/roughage in foods and exercise all help naturally. You just don't want toxins building up and causing possible future illnesses. I have also read the feel-good chemical serotonin is mainly made in the gut. There is so much more, but I hope what I have said inspires you to research more and act in your best interest. We have nothing but our bodies, and we must make time to care for them as no one else will. May also be good to get your Dr. and pharmacist's advice.

Thanks for the advice! I've added fruits to my daily meals such as papayas and bananas. I'll look into seratonin, Thanks again for the help.

No worries. Glad to be of help. Take care and keep learning...
