Yesterday I received the phone call that I have hsv2. I'm devastated and still can't get over it. I've never had a primary outbreak so I don't know when I got it. I've been in a relationship for them past 3.5 years and we have a daughter together. I keep reading that with hsv2 you have 4 outbreaks a year on average. My only symptoms are swelling, and 1 small ulcer.... I experienced this last year but didn't bother going in as I though it was a result of my underwear rubbing them wrong way. What I'm wondering is, is it possible to only have 1 minor OB a year with hsv2? Right now the Dr said I don't need medication but I keep thinking about when I get older. As my immune system weakens will I start getting bad OB all of the time?! Sorry if this post is all over them place. Im stressed, confused and feeling lost as I have no idea how this happened.
Danielle,
Please consider yourself lucky... I used to get outbreaks sometimes 2 or 3 times a month for years. There are some lucky people who never get outbreaks, they're called asymtematic. Anyway, I think you're worrying about something that you don't need to be worrying about. Why stress yourself out at this time. If one day you start having symptoms they're are drugs you can take, which I don't recommend, and also natural remedies you can take that do work to strengthen the immune system and keep outbreaks away. Just relax, life is short and you have no outbreaks ... Be happy, if one day you start to get outbreaks, then you can worry about stopping them at that time, and it's is possible to stop the outbreaks, but for now, just be greatfull that you're outbreak free.
Good luck to you !
Also you should think about strengthening your immune system now, to put your worries to rest, kind of a preemptive approach !
Good luck
Hi Danielle,
As Scott said you are very lucky you don't have many outbreaks and you shouldn't worry yourself, that on the contrary will cause outbreaks. Stress being a major cause of outbreaks.
Also studies show that the outbreaks get fewer and fewer as time goes by. So it's possible you will never have any outbreaks. As suggested, you just need to live healthy and exercise to keep any possible outbreaks at bay.
Good luck
