I was 8 months post-op from an Achilles debridement. Had a huge set back. I got cellulitis pretty bad I formed an abscess. I am the 3rd person my podiatrist has ever see this happen to. My Achilles tendon died and detached it got very infected. I had to have emergency surgery to cut the Achilles tendon out and clean up the abscess. Due to the cellulitis my Dr was limited to what he could do. So I am going to have a 3rd surgery next month to have reconstructive surgery he will take the tendon from my big toe and rebuild me an Achilles. I will be non weight baring for 2 months. A year recovery. Three surgeries in less than a year this has set me back a year own my recovery.
That sounds awful ,my Achilles totally snapped and was left untreated for 17months this resulted in damaged that couldn't be just stitched together so I was given a doner graft which seems to have gone well it's been 12 days since surgery now ,I hope you get this sorted
It's been a huge set back. I try to keep positive. So you mean a skin graph? Was it wrapped around your achillies and reattached with Anchors? I hope you a feeling better.
All I no is it was a doner graft ,I'm seeing my consultant Monday having the staples out and a new cast put on,going to have a good chat with him about what exactly he has done e c t ,how are you feeling now a bit better I hope
Sounds like my first surgery in June. My Dr got a a donor skin graph and wrapped it around my achillies and put 4 anchors to reattach. I was 7 months post op then had complications I had emergency surgery I got an abscess that formed I got cellulitis really bad. I am the 3rd person he has ever seen this happen to. My achillies tendon died it detached it got really infected so he had to cut it out. Now he will have to have the tendon from my big toe and do reconstructive surgery. I have really good strength and I am walking without a limp but just a little slow. I hope you are gaining strength. And feeling better Mary!
God that's sounds so scarey ,especially 7months on when your beginning to think that there's light at the end of the tunnel ,thank god its a rare thing to happen, chin up x
Hi talked to my consultant today did your surgery involve having a hole drilled through ankle bone which I was shocked to find out I had done ,if so I may have had the same op x
