I broke both my tibia and fibula at the end of may.
I had surgery, a plate and 14 screws to put my tibia back in place.
The last two weeks I have been able to weight bear up to 50% which has been going fine. I have been walking using my crutches.
Since last Thursday, I have been allowed to weight bear 100%. Only thing is, as soon as I put my crutches down and try to walk, my brain doesn’t seem to compute and I’m just stood there trying to work out how to walk.
I put my bad leg (left leg) forward and then try to walk by meeting it with my right leg but its not a walk, it’s like a quick stomp. I have been trying for DAYS and don’t seem to be progressing.
Does anyone have any tips to how to learn to walk again? The hospital said I didn’t need to go back but made an appointment for me just in case I wanted to so think I will go to that next week, they haven’t scheduled me in for physio yet.
Thanks!
