I have been diagnosed with a bakers cyst which has ruptured & is very painful. My GP advised painkillers but no other advice, I've read the advice on this website but is there anyone who has had this & can offer any helpful tips. Not sure if I should be resting or trying to excercise the knee.
I have had the same problem, my Bakers Cyst ruptured about 10 days ago, and after going to both doctors and hospital for a Ultra Scan (suspect a clot) where it was diagnosed as the above. I asked what could be done to dampen the pain, to senior nurse and the doctor the following day, but the information was very vague. The only two bits of advice I gained from my GP, was to take anti-inflammatory tablets, and if flying wear a retaining stocking....there dosen't seem to be too much online.....but I'll keep looking and let you know what I find
Try the OSMO webpage, they do patches that naturally speed up the fluid extraction overnight
take non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), such as ibuprofen, to reduce swelling and pain in the affected knee.
hold an ice pack to the knee for 10-20 minutes to reduce any swelling – try a bag of frozen peas wrapped in a cloth (never put ice directly on your skin)
rest your knee joint.
