Hi,
Started a 100% gluten free diet 6 days ago. I have been very very strict with my food intake.
Are there any symptoms ppl get during recovery from gluten? I seem to be getting some strange symptoms like lower stomach pain, feel like I have loads more energy, sinus's seem to be clear, no headaches. The diahrrea has ceased and I had a totally normally poo this morning. I didn't even have to rush back for a 2nd attempt! Lol.
Just wondering whether I should increase the probiotic and prebiotic intake? Do ppl who go gluten free often get gas and wind during recovery? I'm just looking for signs my body is recovering and I'm doing the right things to improve recovery. I'm hoping this isn't a temporary fix and the gluten is what's causing my ibsd!
ned,
your on the right track..I "guess" your colon is functioning well but your small intestine is still in a struggle...there are colonies of non beneficial bacteria that are difficult to nudge out with the good ones...several weeks ago Science Daily had an article describing researchers implanting some microbia and within a short time the implanted morphed into the native....
Just keep a healthy balanced died without any processed foods along with your pre and probitocs..and I'll wager you'll do just great...
Unfortunately there are too few Gastroentrologists that recognize IBS in "most" cases is unbalanced intestial bacteria....Claudio
So approached 2 weeks if being gluten free... WOW! The difference I've felt is unbelievable. The first week was a bit hot and miss, weird stomach pains and stuff... However this past week I have felt really really good! I even had gluten free curry, cider followed by coffee the following morning and was 99% normal. Fingers crossed I have finally found the cause of my ibs! It's only taken 5 years!
As for the probiotics, il stick with vsl3 till I run out and continue the gluten free diet on its own!
great news Ned....keep it up.....Claudio
