Rectocele repair 4 weeks ago

Hi.. I had a large rectocele repair 4 weeks ago and am now finding that I have have the opposite problem.  I can't now hold it in when I need to go and I seem to need to go a lot.   It's particularly bad in the morning and I just can't get to the toilet quick enough sometimes.  Has anyone else had this problem?

I am finding it very depressing and worry about going too far from home in case of public accident.

Not had it, no, but have read it can happen.  My advice would be to contact  your surgeon and ask.  If you can't contact her/him directly, the secretary will be available to contact and will pass a message on.  I hope they can come up with something to rectify this for you as it must be really difficult to live with.

So sorry to hear you have that problem I am 9 weeks post also with a large posterial prolapse and my problem is a horrible constant feeling of pressure in my bowel as though I need to o all the time and even have pressure at front as well I'm going back to surgeon next week to see what problem is I expected to come out of the op on top but it's a real struggle that's hard o cope with hope your problem goes away quickly.  Ann

I had a RECTOCELE repair about 30 years ago, and yes, I had the same problem. When I felt the slightest inkling there was an urge, I had to head straight to the bath room. I don't remember how long that lasted, it was so long ago, but maybe 6-8 weeks. I don't remember having the problem when I went back to work. Just takes time to heal. BUT, the good news is, it did go away and I haven't had any RECTOCELE issues since. About 15 weeks ago I had cystocele repair and my surgeon said the RECTOCELE repair from 30 years ago, was still in great shape😀

Happy healing and God bless!

Trish

Thanks for posting... Hugely reassuring to hear that someone else affected this way and that it did get better.  Hope you are well recovered after your more recent procedure.
