I had MVD surgery 2 years ago & was pain free till last winter when pain came back and painful episod lasted for days and were a lot more severe than before .
restarted Lamotrigine . MRI scan showed MVD still intact so consultant suggested start reducing the dose but pain returned after a slight reduction . Any one else in similar situation ?
Oh no! How disappointing - you have much sympathy from us all
One quick (maybe a bit dumb) question. I was thinking about you while I was driving home!
Did you have a Teflon sponge inserted or did they re-route your artery? It might be that there has been some infiltration of cells into the sponge and it has become a bit "hard" and it is now a new source of pressure on your nerve. Do you think that's possible?
Keep safe

Yes it was teflon they inserted , but consultant thinks compression is intact . I had go back on medication . After the second MRI , consultant reccomnded I reduce the dose and which I did gradulally per month . But after 4 momths symptoms came back . Now he is saying yes increase the dose gradually again . Thanks for your sympathy,
I have heard of this recurrent theme happenin a plenty with all procedures. Mine came back three times. I just get another surgery until the next time. I do Radiofrequency surgery which is minimal pain and quick to end pain..until the next time. We just have to have a TN team available to us for, I guess the rest of our lives or until we find a real solution to nerve pain.
Soldiers come home with horrid nerve pain issues often and are in and out of pain, like many of us, for the rest.of their lives. I know one of these guys who was in ww II. The nerve pain was in his leg.
