Red bumps that come at random times, what is causing them?

Hi,

3 days ago during the night, I had red bumps that itched on my neck and shoulder and wasn't sure why. I slept it off and they were gone in the morning except for a few small ones on my arm. Around 4 o'clock on the same day they came back and were really bad on my back and neck and a few on my arms and legs and itched quite a bit and my head was itchy as well. I took allergy medicine and they disappeared after an hr. A day later I noticed them starting again and I slept it off again and in the morning (right now) I see that they have grown a bit, but they are not that itchy. I have attached photos. Please help me out if you know what they are or why they are coming. I did not change anything in my diet or take new medication and my bed sheet was changed just last week. I am very confused

It certainly looks like "hives" or urticaria,caused by an allergen. The puzzle is always to find the allergen.  You have to take allergy medication more than once for a successful result. What are you taking? Cetrizine is very good. One a day for 2 weeks.   Have you been in contact with anything outdoors like plants,grass,flowers etc,or a new pet,or just touching a friends pet?   New body wash/soap/body cream/ etc etc. Different diet,especially fish or seafood. Sweets with a lot of colouring? Have a think.

Sometimes it can be caused by extreme stress, but often its just one of those mysteries that clear up and never happens again.

If it continues or gets worse then you may need allergy patch tests.
