Red, irritated patch on tongue

Hi All,
I am suffering from a constant red, swollen, irritated, painful patch on my tongue. No matter what I try it won’t go away (mouth washes, touthpastes etc etc). I can’t eat because of it and it makes daily life a struggle.
I have not burnt it or changed my lifestyle in anyway.

Any help appreciated, thank you!

How long have you had it? Have you tried an SLS free toothpaste?

Hi Montgomery,
On and off about 3 months. If gets really bad then fades, but days later will come back for a week or two.
What’s sls free?

Sodium Laurate Sulphur… Google it…Crest doesn’t have it. But it looks systemic to me. You in the UK?

Turns out mine was caused by a lack of vitamin B12. Holland and Barrett do a spray version that sprays into your mouth and absorbs into your blood. 1 day after using that, it had faded mostly.
It says 4 sprays a day but I had about 15. It won’t hurt you, you will just have what they call “rich piss” (your body just doesn’t absorb it)

Thanks for the info! i came across some vitamin deficiency threads and was wondering if that could be the problem. Frustrating for sure.
