Red marks/rash on glans of penis?

I've had these marks on my penis for a few months now. Originally it was one larger plaque by itself, slightly raised and "waxy/shiny". This then went away and then these new marks have appeared. I've had an STI screening, all clear.

any help would be appreciated as I cant get a face to face appointment. I’m worried it could be cancer since it’s not an STI.

This is a skin condition - you need to get to see a Dermatologist - go see your Regular / Family Doctor / GP if you cannot go directly to see one for a referral when possible, the GP / Doctor may be able to provide an ointment to help control this until you see the Derm …

Ive started using caneston cream whilst im waiting to see a doctor as someone on here said it is fungal and reccommended it.

would you stop using this?

… you could try it for 14 days if you wish - the main problem being the distressed skin make act in an adverse manner - I would take the safe approach and apply nothing …

ive tried the caneston and it still hasn’t done anything, so I’m going to try and see a doctor. But its hard to get an appointment at the moment with the corona situation.

anyone else have any ideas what this could be?

same thing.. going on about 2 months .. doesnt really respond to any creams so I’m concerned

Lots of GP’s are doing video calls - why not give the surgery a call and explain you can provide a photo of the affected area …

… what creams have you tried ? were you sexually active before this showed up? do you have any skin issues elsewhere on your body?

I’m in no way qualified, but it looks to me like you have had some kind of bacterial/fungal overgrowth. It happens to me every so often, more often when I was young.

What i do is make sure to wash it regularly and thoroughly, using just water. More important than this though, is make sure your glans is dry at all times. This means every time after you wash it, and every time after you pee. I use toilet paper to dry it thoroughly after using urinating.

A warm, wet, dark environment is great for bacteria and fungi to thrive down there, so just make sure you’re controlling the moisture as much as possible. Should see it disappearing within 1-2 weeks if I’m right.

Do you suffer from eczema or psoriasis (Google)? The rash on the glans penis is red and scaly and these two conditions spring to mind. As others have already commented, you should see your doctor (or dermatologist) to confirm. For now, just apply an emollient like Aveeno, E45 or Diprobase that you should be obtainable from a local pharmacist/drugstore or online (Amazon, etc).

Daktacort ointment also works quite well but you’ll need a prescription for this.

that’s an update today I’ve been using the caneston cream.

i dont know if its getting worse or better really, the location of the rash seems to change all the time.

does this indicate it may be more of a skin condition than bacterial? Maybe try a cream with that in mind?

Started about the 27th of march, went to the doctor’s one week later he had a look at it and prescribed antivirals but i also feel the rash just moved…have you learned antything ?

hi, I’m booked into the doctors this week so I’ll let you know what they say.

keep in touch and let me know how you get on with the antivirals, does look similar to mine.

Took a 5 day cure already,this is about 3 weeks later already so don’t know if it helped, the that were under my foreskin are gone but than the patches on my head just got bigger. do you have discharge ? Thanks for keeping me posted

so you took the anti viral prescribed for 5 days and that picture still remains?

no discharge for me no.No itching, no pain, just the rash. It was like yours to begin with, one solid area, then that seemed to disperse and ive got small sections now in different areas.

no idea whats going on.

I had my blood taken and brought in a urine sample and i tested positive for chlamydia. I did have a discharge though. He did ask me to keep using daktarin,3 days in now and took antibiotics yesterday. Don’t really know if it’s getting any better i’ll have to be patient probably. Do you know anything more?
