I’m an uncircumcised male in my late thirties. About a year ago I noticed a red spot on the head of my penis under the foreskin, on the lower left side next to the frenulum. The spot is about 1cm in diameter, or a little bigger. I didn’t think anything of it because it wasn’t painful and I got tested for STDs and was all negative. In July I contracted syphilis and developed a lesion on the inside of the foreskin in that same area. I got treated with three shots of penicillin over several weeks and it did heal that lesion, and in a recent blood test the traces of syphilis were almost gone. But since July that initial red spot seems to be worse, often very red, especially after sexual activity, and it sometimes looks wet or shiny. It doesn’t hurt but can sometimes feel uncomfortable, like a slight burning sensation. I’ve seen a urologist and he prescribed a steroidal cream, Clotrimazole/Betamethasone. It seems to help temporarily but does not solve the problem, as the redness still returns after sex. About a month ago I had a biopsy done on the area and it came back negative for cancer, viruses, etc. So my urologist thinks it’s just chronic inflammation. He suggested that a frenulectomy could help (where they cut the frenulum), or a circumcision, as my foreskin is pretty tight. Has anyone else had a similar situation? Or any advice would be so greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
