I’ve been on 50mg sert for 5 months and while its been up and down i’ve improved alot. The only issue is the dry mouth never leaves and the dr recommended reducing slightly to 37.5 to see. I felt amazing for the last 2 weeks (the best i’ve felt all my time) but ended up at a friends wedding and drank ALOT (beer, wine, shots etc). Obviously was a terrible idea and now 3 days later i feel like im back at square one.
Have i undone all my heard work? Im still at 37.5
Why did you decrease your dose? Do you want to come off sertraline? Dry mouth is a common side effect ... Sertraline is a long-term medicine and we should keep taking it for at least 6 months ( 1 year ideally). If your anxiety came back, you should probably continue your regular dose....btw 50mg is quite a low dose anyway.
You should try to stay at 50mg as long as you can. I know when I started (10 days ago) if I had any alcohol the next day was a nightmare. Just limit yourself to a single beer. Drink alot of water. I wouldnt go down in dosage for a while, get some stability in your life first. Make sure youre eating right and taking vitamins and exercising. Only once you have a plethura of healthy habits should you consider coming off the meds.
