hi all
i was on 40mg of cit for 2 year it really did help at the time but i just felt numb i reduced to 30mg 7 months ago first 5 weeks were hard then i settled felt fine and now i feel numb again not deppressed just low mood .
any advice

thought so, the citalopram stripped my emotions too!
i reduced to ten with lots of Success.never felt numb what ever that means?but felt a little low mood.but it all subsided.everyone is so different if you dont experiment you will never know.these meds are trail an errors.best regards

don thats a big possibility i was on twenty and felt so medicated and with severe headache.so i reduced drastically to ten.not recommend anyone doing it that way.but instantly i felt relieve from my headache and that medicated feeling and my low mood slowly subsided.40milli is quite high and the majority of folks on 40 usually have that so called numd feeling.like i said is a big possibility to reduce again.just reduce with caution and do it slowly

I went down to 10mg from 20mg im fine on 10mg now tried going down to 5 mg but went back up to 10mg as felt light headed
I still get moments when i feel a bit off but i know how to recognise them now

I was on 20mg for about 6 months, I can say that it did relieve my anxiety but it also made me feel numb, and also gave me dp/dr. Those side effects were outweighing the no anxiety so I cut down to 15mg, felt okay for a little while then it all came back again. I have went down to 10mg as of last night and plan on switching to zoloft because although the anxiety was pretty well gone, the other things were just too much for me.
From what I’ve read that that numb feeling often comes along with taking too high of a dose, a reduction may be just what you need! Just remember that when you do, there can be some of the start up side effects that is just the medication leveling out again, let that pass before deciding to do anymore reductions or switches. It takes time.

Hi Don,
I’m also on 10mg for 1 1/2 yrs and doing great. Like Michelle I to get the periods of being off but I know how to handle it. I know that if I get less than 7 hrs sleep I have headaches. Like Lois said its trial and error with this med. Lois helped me allot through this journey.
