I have been doing really well reducing from 10mg to 9mg in what i call the first phase of reducing, but yesterday i noticed my hips, ankles, and neck gave me some trouble, this morning when i woke up i was shaking, but i also put this down to reducing, i am going into the second phase which i see i will have more days at 9mg, I know this question might have been answered before, but when i get to 9mg do i stay there for a while, or start reducing to 8mg straight away.
Yesterday i managed to do one and half miles walk in the sunshine, and then stopped at a little pub for a drink, we even sat outside it was so lovely.
Margaret please refer to Eileens tapering reducing it has been a life saver for us all. Everything slowly or your body will tell u different. I was clear of tablets and after 2 years supposedly clear of Pmr .After three weeks tablet free back it came. I
I am on 3preds daily and coping so please be careful and enjoy your pain free time. Good luck.
Beatrice i am following Eileens dead slow reduction this time. The doctor had me reducing by 2.5 before and it was awfull, when i told my doc this she said follow the dead slow method , and then we shall see how it goes. So thank you
Hello Margaret,, examine what has happened in your week prior?? A little bit of stress maybe?,, or shock or just something small out of the ordinary?? I've been doing well on reducing and have been on 15mg for over 6 weeks pain and stiffness free, then a blip of circumstances in everyday life started a bit of stiffness,,,, then I ironed out those problems and hay presto!!!,, I'm free of stiffness again without increasing pred!!!! Good luck Andrea xx
If it makes you feel happier, stick at 9mg for a couple of weeks when you get there Margaret to be sure you are still fine but you can carry on straight into the next stage if you have had absolutely no problems though. It is so slow using my "Dead slow..." you can stop at any time, even half way through.
Any alcoholic drink for me will make me have the shakes the next day... ( I am sure you only had a juice I have had to give up unless I know I can spend the next morning in bed. 1 and half mile walk is also out I can just about manage a walk from the car to the shop... or up the garden to hang out the washing. And me being an eight mile a day walker and cyclist you can imagine how frustrated I feel.I would not yet try 1 and half miles and I have had this condition in its full form for nearly 2 years. I am beginning to look forward to the school holidays when my granddaughter and I will take the cycles to the Ridgeway which is a nice flat 3 mile ride and start cycling again this summer.
Was that actually a 3 mile walk then? If so, and depending on how far you usually walk, it may have been a bit to much.
I was away for a couple of days and walked a few kms each day and also lugged a suitcase around. When I got home I was totally exhausted, achy and had a very sore lower back which I rarely have. It took me 2 days of rest and I'm back to "normal" and didn't need to change my dose of pred. I am also using the DSAS method with one more week at 10mg reducing to 9mg. I will try after a week at 9mg to begin the next decrease to 8mg and see how it goes. After that I'll decrease 1/2mg at a time.
Enjoy the sunshine, it always makes you feel better🌻🌼🌞.
