I had an ankle fusion 12 months ago. unfortunately it didn’t fully consolidate and I am due a second operation next week and my surgeon has said I will probably have to have a bone graft , with either bone taken from my hip or an allograft (using bone they have from a store).
I’m not sure which! Has anyone on here undergone a second fusion? was it successful? how was the pain/ recovery from the hip area?
my op has been delayed for months due to covid and I desperately want to be able to walk unaided again and be free from pain!
at least I’m prepared for what’s to come and have bought a knee scooter, to help when non weightbearing. I have a plaster cover as seat for showering and my husband has built a ramp for the door.
But after 12 months of pain and immobility( not forgetting the pain before my first operation) I am very anxious and worried if I will eventually be able to walk!
I also have to worry about surgery in these “Covid” times!
any reassurance is welcome !
