Hi there,
I had my gallbladder removed due to a huge gallstone and very bad gallbladder attacks, around 2 two years ago.
I know there are some people who bounce back right away and can eat what they used to and some that now have a far more strict diet due to the body no longer being able to deal with fatty foods, etc.
I am the latter.
But my problem now is, that I am getting gastritis about one to two times a month (around about) if I happen to eat something my stomach is not happy with or I accidentally have something with butter, oil in it. Is anyone else dealing with this?
I normally take a PPI for a couple days and it clears the gastritis back up, but I am really getting tired of the repetitive gastritis and it feels like it’s never going to stop.
I am concerned about stomach cancer issues down the road if this continues and I was also wondering if anyone has been in my shoes and this issue either got better with time or they found something that worked better than what I have been doing.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
hi Ipsydaisy. after 7 months post gallbladder removal I became extremely ill with severe gastritis, bloating, gerd, hiatal hernia. I already had severe IBS and the constant bile made me so ill I felt like I would never make it. Now over 2 years later and I can barely digest anything. No oil, dairy, meat, vegetables except for carrots and only a tiny bite of an orange. This operation has been a nightmare for me. Praying yours gets better as time goes on.
hi, i had a large 5cm gallstone and yucky gallbladder removed just over 18 months ago and still have issues. i have to take Ranitidine still and also cut out anything acidic, fresh tomatoes, a lot of dairy, minimise onion and garlic, bread, pulses etc. Occasionally i get gastritus which takes days to go. The acid also causes enamel wear on my teeth. I think if you had IBS issues before gall bladder surgery you are never free from problems
Well, that sounds like me. I had my gall out in 2017. I still cannot eat fats like before. So I watch and being vigilant is clue. I do eat some fats. But then I do i suffer. So I just take a bite of a hamburger or steak. And that’s it! I really don’t miss fats at all. In fact I feel so much better No eating them a all. My wife cooks with fats. I tell her I cannot eat oils or fats. I just pat them down. So I choose to eat what I make than opposed to eating whatever someone makes. I write down the foods to avoid and follow it religiously. Take charge of your body and what it needs, not what you see! I would like to converse in the future to see how you are doing!

i got mines out almost 3 years ago and still can’t eat certain things that are too high in fat. Although sometimes have the yellow loose stools without a known cause. Why don’t you take the PPI for a month or 2 to properly heal your stomach? I’m on them continuously so i can take anti-inflammatory tablets. Definitely think they help xx
Thank you, Audrey. Prayers sent your way too that it gets better. Has the doctor not suggested anything to help?
Careful on the Ranitidine, Nat. There’s been a massive recall in US and Canada and new claims that it causes cancer. So you might want to be cautious.
When you say you do suffer, what happens? Stomach aches? Gastritis?
What do you do that helps? Are there any medications that helps you when your stomach acts up?
I do take a PPI. Panteloc. Although according to my doctor, that too has side effects and he has suggested to me, that I take it only when really needed and only for a few days at most.
Has your doctor advised differently? I find that the PPI’s do work, but I am wondering if there is anything else. I do watch my diet very carefully and I don’t eat anything that might set things back off. Do you reckon it will always be this way? Have you found any improvements at all as time went on?
What happens is I get morning nausea and stomach ache. I drink Organic Apple Cider vinegar to relieve the pain and nausea. Don’t use any meds. My suffering usually lasts about a few hours to a day! So I rarely eat fats!!
No they have just about given up on me. I cannot tolerate any meds or probiotics that may have helped.
I do use ginger tea and licorice tea that have soothed my gut temporarily.
