I would like to hear from anyone who has had a repeat haitus hernia surgery.
My original surgery was 24 years ago, about six weeks ago my symptoms returned with a vengence. My consultant believes the repair could have slipped or become unravelled all together. I have an appointment in ten days for a camera and then a PH test (both of which I've had before) and then back to the consultant for the findings.
What I want to know is whether the procedure ro re-repair a HH is more complicated, does recovery take longer, have there been advances since my original repair etc?
I would be very grateful for any feedback.
I don't know anything, just want to say that it holded for a long long time. How old are you now?
Just a quick update.
Since my last post I have had a endoscopy, Oesophagul function and 24 hour ph test and am awaiting the results. I was told by my Consultant (after the endoscopy) that my HH had not returned and he couldn't see anything out of the ordinary. I am thinking that my wrap must have slipped, and whilst not producing another HH it must be allowing acid to reflux again. The results apparently take a week to ten days to get to my consultant, then the hospital has to schedule me back in for an appointment, so it could be a while until I find out the outcome.
I was wondering if anyone knows if it is possible to retighten a wrap without going through the entire procedure again, or if anyone has shared my symptoms and what their outcome has been?
