Hi my name is Tammy had a total hip replacement on 14th September 2016 it then popped on 22nd of October never experience pain like that before I was made a abduction brace to wear and discharged from hospital since then its popped again I'm so scared now that this is going to keep happening and how long will i qhave to wear my brace? Does anyone know.
Sounds to me like either
1. You are doing something wrong or
2. Something is not in the ideal position.
I think that once it has happened once, it has a tendancy to do it again - probably to do with weakened muscles not holding the joint in place.
I think it can affect your holiday insurance - my company wasn't worried that I had a THR, but if it had ever dislocated, and how many times.
Best wishes
Graham
So sorry for your pain and problems,Tammy. I think only your orthopedic surgeon can answer these questions. Go to your professional! Hoping you get this sorted out soon. Living in fear is no way to live.
Hi Tammy. I'm really sorry to hear this. I have experience with hip dislocations (3). I had to had them redone through operations. I only had a brace on after the last revision. However, I was not sent home! I was sent to a rehab hospital because I couldn't bend or anything. I was there until the brace was removed. I would suggest you talk to your surgeon about all your questions. At the very least you should have in-home care coming in daily. Good luck.
Hi Tammy Sue
You poor little thing how did this happen?
Did it just pop or we're you over doing it.
This is something we all dread happening,I
think you have to speak to your Doctors let
up no how you get on .Hugs xx
I don't think your dobby anything wrong.
Have they x-rated it after the Dislocation?
I'm thinking the device may be too large for the socket. Or the muscles too weak to hold it in place.
Id keep the brace until it heals. So you don't have to experience soooooo much pain again.
Hugs and prayers sending your way .
Let's is know how your getting along.
Hi Tammy Sue, I had a RTHR on 11/2 of this year and mine dislocated two weeks after my surgery. They did a revision and put a larger stem in. I am now 3 weeks post op on my second surgery and doing great! But like you I live in fear of another dislocation. It was the worst thing that's ever happened to me!
I just have to remind myself to take it easy and remember the things I should not be doing.
I'm so scared I don't sit in any other chair or sofa in the house other than my wheelchair because it's the highest seat.
I go back next month and I will schedule a surgery date for my left hip.
I do hope you get some relief soon!
How very dreadful...
Twice...something is not correct. Muscles and tendons must heal so that they can hold the femur and pelvis together to form a working him.
An ab ductor? or an ad ductor?
Were you instructed in the do nots of THR?
Something is out of kilter.
