For some reason I can start a discussion but not answer.
So shall do so here
My infection is clearing and I have one more day of penicillin.
My physio came this morning to take me for a walk. However, at the moment, my blood pressure keeps dropping which in turn makes me giddy. So that has been left until next week.
I don't have much of an appetite and have lost quite a lot of weight but I shall buy some protein shakes. Thank you for the recommendation.
I am not seeing my Consultant for another three weeks by which time I am determined to walk into his room, as before, unaided .
I'm looking at it now as just a minor set back and I will get there .
You need oxygen if your blood pressure keeps dropping. Mine did after the op and that's what they did to me. Had to laugh at the memory... kept flopping back onto the bed.. the last time a nurse shouted...she's going AGAIN!!!
I would be a little bit worried if my blood pressure kept dropping, though -
do you have high or low bloodpressure ?
Perhaps you could see your GP about it - Follow up appointment with orto surgeon usually is more about the surgery than other things ..mine was anyway - range of mobility, look at x-ray and was send me on my way ...
That's funny Maureen. My blood pressure, when in hospital, fell to 96/48 . I was hooked up to a liquid gel that lowered my body temperature so rapidly, I started to shake uncontrollably (bit like the exorcist). After much panic; ECG and doctors and nurses massaging me, I survived.
I think I'm just prone to sudden drops in blood pressure and need to drink more water but the infection has not helped..
I think, when sedentary, my blood pressure is low. Also the infection and penicillin doesn't help.
I have just returned, on my own, from a short walk. I still have a great deal of pain within my groin and became more aware of the leg length discrepancy. As you stated, I Cannot compare this op with my last.
I had a full set of eye lash extensions applied yesterday. HOws that for vanity! IF I go out. AT least I shall go out looking good.
I too have a leg length discrepancy...my right femur lost length because of repeated fractures...it is about 3.5 cm shorter...I only purchase shoes that are mules...like Skechers mules...I carefully lift the inner lining and build up the heel...works out nicely because the Skecher mule has thas wee heel that supports the lift...I then put the inner lining back down and give it a trim with the scissors.
I shall Renee. Apparently muscles have a memory so keep reminding mine to strengthen. I was so very low last week, I honestly thought I would never pick myself up again. My daughter was so very worried about me. But once I completed the course of penicillin and the infection diminished, I literally bounced back. I'm still tiring but it's early days.
I'm so glad you are still on this forum.
You were such a great support before and now again.
