Hi all, I am scheduled to have a THR very soon and looking for books/resources that are good for post op and recovery. Any suggestions?
Hi Theresa
there is more information than you'll ever need by goggling hip replacement. However you will see that advice differs considerably. Each surgeon has their own preferred method of surgery and type of prosthesis. Also it will be dependent on the patient. Their age, lifestyle, health etc. Therefore doing research will be difficult until you know method and type of prosthesis.
When you have your surgery your consultant, physio and nursing staff will tell you about your particular mocement restrictions etc. I would suggest that you follow these. You will also be given a helpline number for anything that crops up when you get home.
This forum is brilliant for all the additional things and ideas to solve problems like sleep problems.
I wish you luck for your op. It is amazing the difference after.
Damn typos !!!! Google for information and there will be movement restrictions lol

hi teresa,
warm welcome to the hippies forum ...
I agree with previous posts .. can recommend Rocketman's website that he created based on this forum members experiences -
Maybe most of the information will not resonate right now but will once you had the hip replacement surgery.
if you want and feel like it, please share more about you and ask any questions -
