Hello everyone!
I’ve been on Paxil for 17 years. I’m 37 years old and in August i was in a bit of a funk. The psychiatrist put me on trintellix and I gave that a shot. I took 40 milligrams first five years 20 the next 7, then 10 the last five.
Long story short, it didn’t work out with trintellix and i decided, with my doctors help, to get off all antidepressants on December first. I didn’t think i needed them anymore.
I spent like a week feeling normal, then a week of mania and euphoria, and then right before Christmas i started feeling serious anxiety that I’ve never felt before. It was constant and deep in my chest.
I decided to get back on Paxil 10mg around December 28th. It’s made the anxiety even worse. I feel it in my arms, legs, everywhere. I can’t sleep for the first time in my life, and it’s hard to focus. It feels like everything is so sensitive. Even a conversation has me panicking a bit.
I feel way better when i workout.
Has anyone experienced something like this? Will it end soon? Has Paxil stopped working and become more foe than friend?
Al feedback is greatly appreciated.
I’m in exactly the same situation at the moment no matter what I do every makes me anxious and scared a I shake i tremor I swear I went cold turkey off fluoxetine to citalapram for 5 weeks then cold turkey of that to now venlafaxine and it’s been 4 weeks on that and still no sign of improving 😥
That’s not good news. Four weeks? Yikes.
I’ve found exercise helps a lot.
Paxil has been the only SSRI that has has any impact of my depression and anxiety. That being said, what a finicky medication. Starting and stopping can cause an increase in anxiety and I have found even increasing and decreasing can cause “brain zaps,” increased physiological anxiety symptoms, and general malaise. Friend or foe, at this point I’d need to take two weeks vacation from work and a oral suspension titration plan just to come off. If you can give your body a way to release tension (exercise) and provide some natural endorphins, I’d say use it as devotedly as you would a medication.
Thank you. I actually feel great today for he first time in ten days. Hopefully a sign of things to come.
Let's hope you'll start feeling better! I've also been on Paxil and tried Trintellix (which gave me the worst starting symptoms ever!). Now I've been on Cymbalta for a few months. Cymbalta is not quite as "strong" as Paxil but works fine enough. I'm still able to feel feelings whereas Paxil made me numb.
