did anyone else suffer from restless leg after surgery what with the bruising and the swelling it's driving me mad
totally! honestly the constant twitching about last night was as bad as the pain, any ideas any of you?
How did your op,go did you have spinal,x
Is it just the operated leg or both? some of the pain meds cause this. . . . but then it would be both legs.
Just the operated one
Hi Sharon, Hubby suffered terribly it's one of the major problems, he found it worse at night, and more so after Icing, he found that heat either a hot water bottle, or heated blanket worked best, and when your more mobile try walking it off also, its all to do with the nerves coming back to life after it was clamped, and the truama, through the muscles, have faith it will get better.
Ian is 10 weeks on Wednesday and is doing so well no sticks at all walking well still on small dose of Ibruprophen but off all the hard stuff try some hydrotherapy if you can and physio if you can get it. keep positive it will be ok
My leg is black and blue and it jumps by its self. And then the knitting pains omg but they are good pains as been through this with first tkr ...plrnty of ice hun take medication and exercise I'm twelve days post op but feeling much better hope you are xxx
Oh yes, it was awful. Every night for five days. I thought it would never go but it did. I dont think there is much you can do to stop it but I agree it was as bad as the bruising and swelling. Hang on in there, it will go.
Have you got to wear the embolism stockings
Ah yes, the jumping leg! Mine does it when Im just about to drop to sleep, as though when my muscles relax it triiggers something. Most annoying! No suggestions Im afraid, but jang on in there, its getting better.....
didn't really get that probem, although did get the sudden leg sgretch . . totally unexpected, and not unpleasant really! suddenly, the leg would sort of stretch straight! Hope it stops for you soon . .
Thanks are you still using the embolisim stockings x
Yes, I wore the stockings for the full 6 weeks, to the day, as instructed by consultant. They didn't really help with the restless leg but I vwas too afraid of DVT to take them off early.
Hi Susan,
i am wearing my sexy socks too I hate them only time they come off is for my shower every morning. Then they are back on I would not take any chances either its not worth it ...I have four weeks to go happy days
yes I had spinal which wasnt as bad as I thought it would be,the op went well, but a staple failed on first day which was v traumatic and resulted in a transfusion, I am doing good now but physio is halted because of staple problem so I have a long road ahead,I am glad to be home where all I can do is rest untill I heal, shame we have to have major surgery to justify a lay down! how are you ?
I have been told to wear these awful stockings for 6 weeks is this right? have I got it wrong they are truly terrible!(I know they are for my own good, but honestly, they are adding insult to injury)
that has cheered me up I had visions of it going on for weeks, thanks for that
that must have been horrible!
Me too the one on the good leg is fine but the one on the operated leg is so uncomfortable
I am fine I had the spinal was weird seeing my leg up in the air and not being able to feel it before the screen went up I had sedation and don't remember a thing spending days taking pain killers, exercising, icing and elevating got my first physio session next Thursday then staples out on Friday x
