Restriction for hip replacment

Hi to all

I have to replace my both Hips next couple of month one after another. I am a contractor and need to work hard like putting my knee on ground or bending less that 90 degree, any job that related to construction job . my question is after hip replacement and recovery time that is 3 month , am I able to do my job or I have to think another job  which is very hard for me .

please advise me .

Well I'm 3 months now and the thought of doing building work and get up and down from the floor would be a no from me....but everyone is different ....some people are running after 3 months I think you will just have to wait and see how you get on....good luck

My brother is sp 4 years THR and is an AC contractor.  He continues to work today.  His main need is just to be careful.  A couple of years after THR he dislocated his new hip while on a roof.  Had to be hoisted down.  Pretty painful!  Myself, I was a psychologist but destroyed my hip from helping friends build their homes  but wouldn’t do it now.

I think it will be extremely difficult for you to carry on with that sort of job for about 6 months due to the dislocation risks.

Every one is different. There are many people who go back to the same activities they did before their hips went out. Just ensure that you follow your doctor's restrictions, give yourself time and get some good physical therapy. I would recommend that even after three months get someone else to do those thing for you if you can. Pay attention to your body, Good luck!

Are you having anterior or posterior. When they go through the front you can bend down without worrying about displacement after you have healed a while.

I had lateral posterior and had no restrictions. I was told by physio I could touch my toes after the op if I wanted to. I think things have changed over the years.

Hi Chris 

yes you are right , I will follow all Surgeon advise ,but my concern is restriction stick to me which is disaster for me , some how I prefer to deal with pain for a while till save some money to handle my life.
