Hi All i have finished my 6 weeks check and my surgeon has indicated i can return to work. I am unsure if I should return to work full-time on all 5 days or have phased return. My workplace have a return to work plan which they want me to put down can anyone in the forum please assist me with some advice. Thanks in advance
Be kind to yourself. After not working for the length of your recovery time, do you think you have the stamina to work full time? You can always increase gradually. Working full time could be a bit much, unless you have been active during recovery.
Hi meena , it all depends on what your job entails , how you are feeling and how fit you are . Your body should tell you if you are up to it or not .
hope you make the right decision for you and good luck.
Hi Meena
I would always advise anyone who has been on long term sick leave to go back to work on a phased return. It is good that your employer has this in place so I would suggest that you agree a plan with them which can be reviewed to ensure you are coping ok. Start say with 2 days a week then 3, then 4 until you are back to working full time.
Best of luck

You still need recovery time but also to work. Go back but make sure you have an area where you can rest if you need to. Don't push yourself and do what you are comfy with
Hi meena,
My thoughts are that it is easy to forget that you just had a very major brutal surgery, especially if your healing has gone nicely and your pain levels are low to none.
You have only one chance to heal right, so my advice is to take the phased route back to work. I do not know, but perhaps the push to jump right into the deep end could be the need for the money ? Ponder this: the money you make today or next week will not be worth the price you pay long term with your health. In this case your hip.
Another recommendation I learned about and followed is to buy a new pair of shoes, closed heels and toes to wear after surgery. Before our hip replacements we wore in our shoes in an incorrect way of walking, so if we wear the same shoes after the surgery, we could slide right back into the improper manner of walking.
One last thought for you is to make sure you take short little breaks and at first take a walking aid with you even if you do not think you will need it, this way if you become fatigued you will have a back up.
Good luck with your decision meena and I wish you the best!

Hi Joan , I eas told to wear them for 6 weeks . Some people don't wear them at all . It all depends on your surgeon .
