Hi
just had a discussion with my consultant via his secretary and he has given me the all clear to go back to work on Monday,i will be 18 days post op.I normally work in the community as a nurse however will be office bound until i can drive and the only stipulation is that i continue to adhere to restrictions which we all know so well.So chuffed to get out of here and be with my chums.
Now that is what I like to read...I just had my consultation yesterday and was rather glum when he said I would have to wait possibly 4 months, but do have to be seen in 18 weeks, both need doing so one at a time, I am in good shape still, so perhaps my 10 weeks sick pay will get me through, best of luck Sarah and congrats on getting better so fast.
Hello Sarah, Good for you. !! Well done you. I am due to go into have mine done on monday. Am really dreading mine, as I suffer from deep rooted anxiety. But as I am my Hubby s Carer I cant end up in a wheelchair. I have got all the help with carer s coming in to sort hubby out. And they are willing to sort me out as well. Can I pm you ? Sorry to be a pain. Regards amandah
hi Sarah
good for you remember baby steps don't over do things you will only tire yourself good luck
Ah thanks Ian
The way i look at it is this-i am not sick and do not believe in the"sick role" mentality-i will probably be doing less then i am now but at least i am in a position to help my over stretched nursing colleagues.
Good luck
Thanks Denise,i will be careful.
Hello, 😊 18 days??? Have I read that right? 18days??? I'm all for getting back in the swing of things but I honestly think you should reconsider, I'm a Hairdresser and I went back at 11 weeks post op and wished I could have had longer, even though you will be office bound it's still such early days after such a big op to be going back to work, am I alone in thinking this? Very best of luck to you I really hope it's a good thing but I do think your body needs longer to heal x
Hi
yes you read it right. My consultant and physio have both commented on my level of fitness and muscle tone-i am basically physically fit, slim and 49-it makes the world of difference. My mentality is very positive and that impacts greatly on your recovery.
When do you think you will be able to start exercising formally again? That's one of the things I'm concerned about as I work out every day. You must be very fit though going back to work so soon. Have you any swelling at all?
y
Hi
None what so ever, doesn't look like i've had anything done-it has shocked me totally,i was expecting to be laid up for ages-all credit to my consultant who completely adheres to a rapid recovery and it must be down to his technique. My mum had hers done 10 years ago and had a swollen leg/ankle for 6 months.
Congratulations!!!....have to admit i'm a bit jealous..... I am 7 1/2 weeks post opt THR and i am a floral designer by trade. I stand 8-9 hours a day. It will be quite some time before I can do that. I am very anxious to get back to work as i am so bored. Happy healing! Ginny USA
Ah,thanks Ginny,i can't wait !
