Returning to work

Hi All looking forward to return to work after easter. I will be 8 weeks then. Can anyone suggest how long can i work (hrs) as my work place would like to have a return to work plan in place so they can assist me with the recovery too.

They should seek the advice of an Occupational Health body. If I'm not mistaken, the onus is on them to present you with a plan, to which you agree or not.

Hi meena I would think it depends on what your job entails .

Good luck

Hi Meena. Unless you need to return to work for financial reasons then 8 weeks could be early. If you have ANY reservations then stay off longer. This is a one-off opportunity for your new hip to set correctly and however it sets will be for the rest of your life.

Take care xx

What is your job meena because even if you think at the mo you are fine but you really need to be sure u are ok. Because there is ups and downs as the weeks go on. X

Hi, It depends on what type of work you do. Although I am 73 I have a part time job and as the person went sick whilst I was off I went back to work after 3 weeks, albeit on crutches, but I only have a desk job and I had a lift to and from the office. Hope this helps.

Hi meena

It does depend on what type of job you have of course and what hours you would normally work.

Your return to work should be a phased return agreed by both yourself and your employer whom can engage an occupational health assessment if they wish.

My consultant has told me which occupational health also said it was OK and I agree to a phased return to my clerical position at 8 weeks.

I need to build my stamina and have a work station assessment to ensure that I am able to do my job without impacting on my health.

I will return next Monday for 4 hrs then off Tues to rest, then 4 hrs wed, Thurs rest and 4 hrs Friday.

Following week I will increase my hours depending obviously on how I get on next week and so on over a 4 week period as suggested by occupational health.

I hope this helps.
