Revision hip replacement?

I am 53, one year post hip replacement and have a lot of pain in thigh, especially when first standing up after sitting or laying.

I hope the hip replacement is not loose.  What else could it be?

Keeping good thoughts for you that its not loose and all works out.

I'm 1 year 2 month from my first and 11 week from 2nd. Hopeful all will be better.

I had a hip replacement and had end of stem pain in the thigh. E-rays revealed that the stem was not in correctly. It was actually pushing into the bone when I put weight on it. Ultimately the  stem did come loose which was much more painful. The things was that the end of stem pain was there from the very beginning. I never got off the cane because it hurt so much.

Go get an Xray and meet with your surgeon. I waited 2 years before I got a revision but I am so glad I did.

That was two years ago and I can walk on that side without pain. I just had my other hip replaced and the difference in recovery is huge. I have pain for nerve damage but not that awful bone pain I was having right after the first one.

I hope you don't need a revision but if you do, I can tell you it is so much less painful than the actual hip replacement. I didn't need any narcotics at all after the revision.

Hope this helps.

Pain when getting up from sitting position is very common, it does go eventually, mine mostly did after around 2 years ... sometimes it returns even now.

I had my right hip replaced beginning of June and I am 55. So 8 months. I have pain every time I get up and for the first few steps, and very painful, then it goes. I have an appointment early March to see my surgeon about it. Though it seems to be fairly common as Rocketman said. I keep hoping that if anything was loose that it woukdnt be so good other than the start up pain. Physio thinks my muscles are too tight, I have been attending since September when it started...it wasnt a feature right at the outset..or I might just have been aware of it as everything else settled and this didnt. There is another recent post by Dsilk? I think with an exercise that helps. I am doing it with help of my husband and the stretch is improving...so see how it goes...hope your pain does go and nothing untoward.

I'm a bit over two years past surgery. I've had constant pain, but nothing shows up in the x-rays. I live with it and just try to get by. At least my broken femur is held together these days.

Had a bad fall last week and had severe pain shooting through that leg. I waited a few days and it's gone now. If I did fracture anything, it's now healing itself...
