Revision Hip Surgery

I am 90 years old.Had a Partial Hip Replacement(HEMIARTHROPLASTY) in1998.

The Ball of the RHS femoral was smashed after a nasty fall. The Thompson?brand solid metal prosthesis was cemented in.

It Is called a “ Moore’s” here in Australia.

I have managed reasonably OK with the pain on and off for so long, but the pain lately has become unbearable, which has restricted me to move painfully only around the house.

Is it worth the trouble at this stage of my life, to have a revision THR, considering the risks involved and all the other consequences after the operation?

Has any one with similar circumstances had a revision THR.Please share with me your experiences.I will very much appreciate any Information on the matter.Nick".

If you are in considerable pain then yes but do the surgical team think you can get through the operation and that pain afterwards for the first few weeks could be hard to go through, and aftercare, too, but it is only one side, so yes I feel it is worth it as you could still live on for a good few years to come, best of luck, keep in touch.

I'm sorry for what you are going through.  I had a hip put in 11 years ago and in constant pain all the time.  Being 56 and hearing your story I will stop complaining and pray for you instead.  You made it to 90 so your already tough enough for anything.

Yes..I would do it since you have such pain. I would just make sure you can do rehab after for as long as you need. You may live to 100 so why not eliminate the pain if you can. Best to you!
