thanks for the information
since last comments i have actually been back in for an angiogram and the results from that were the LAD is starting to narrow before the point of insertion, so they have gave me an option of trying another stent in the same artery or a CABGx1, but no mention of the erratic heart beat that instigated the investigation. to be honest very disolutioned with it all,
my thoughts are to try another stent and hope it last longer than 9/10 months, i was under the impression and informed that artery take a life time to block, so wondering how in such a short space of time in can start to block in another place whilst under medication and diet or is it simply they have not inserted along enough stent in the first place, i am going back in for a echocardigram and that will be to make a decision i would think of next course of action, its taking a long time and work is also important and cant make any more plans as yet.
Question how did you find the heart bypass x 2 were you alright, its very worrying
I had my bypass April 24th 2015. I was to,d that nothing could be done for me after I had the angiogram . It was only by pushing my consultant and going private that I found a surgeon to do it. He said no problem. I had 5 arteries 1 blocked and had died and 4 95% blocked .so I had a quadruple bypass. I am getting on okay now. But like you I wonder how long these things last. You have to fight for all the info you can. And fight for yourself . Keep asking the questions. Ask for another opinion . I hope you get on okay. Keep posting
HI leslie,
I've had an Echocardiogram, my Heart bypass went well, it is a major operation, you are in intensive care for 24 hours with your own heart nurse ,but that was 11 years ago, things may have changed . They took the artery out of my leg, both leg and chest have healed well. The scar on my chest has nearly gone.they send u to excerise classes after at the gym, it's only light training, like walking, and cycle machine , and then you build up week after week
The problem with the stents 'lasting' is to do with them using bare metal stents (cheaper) first and most patients are fine afterwards but others like the original poster (and myself) aren't. What happens is restenosis due to a build up of healthy and scar material within the stent. I'd recomment the original poster goes for a new stent but hopefully this time they'll use a drug-eluting variety, I had one (a drug drug-eluting stent) after my last stents got bunged up and fingers crossed yep things are good and have been for a lot longer
Hi Benny thank you for the information it is helpful , I am not sure at this point what type of stent they have used and will ask the question all I know is they inserted stents and prescribed medication Tegrelor they did say this was to coat the stent so maybe it's a basic stent, however the narrowing is starting just before the stent not in the stent or so I am being told , and after reading your reply I looked it up and now find there are 5 types of stent with a new dual
Eluting medication and coating s
Thank you once again
Les
